RE: St. Thomas Abbey - Ponca City

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have some exciting news from Bishop Chris Green:

“I’m glad to share some good news with you: we have founded St. Thomas Abbey in Ponca City, Oklahoma. This will be a place for Sabbath, study, prayer, and spiritual retreat. I hope that, in time, many of you will be able to come and stay with us.”

From the Ponca City News, Oct 1, 2026 -

“One of Ponca City’s more recognizable properties has changed hands. The former home of the First Presbyterian Church, located at Grand Ave. and 14th street, was purchased by the Diocese of St. Anthony (DOSA) and will become an abbey for use by the Diocese, as well as the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (CEEC-USA) of which it is a part. The facility will feature overnight accomodations for visiting clergy and parishioners, and will be a place of teaching and study, contemplation, spiritual renewal, fellowship, and convocation.”

Seven years of vision has led to the purchase of this property, and moving to convert it into a facility that will serve as a spiritual center, a hearth, a place of prayer where devotion would be constant for both the Diocese of St. Anthony and for the whole Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches. Renovations are underway. Dedication will happen on November 1, 2026.

Look for further information as to how to support this ongoing work.

All Peace and Grace in Christ,

Archbishop Quintin D. Moore

Presiding Bishop,
The Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches
